We had a vision.

KwikBowl was developed as a solution to the problems associated with cultured marble sinks. After 25 years in the bathtub repair and refinishing business, we knew that there was no easy solution to the problem of cracking and staining of these sinks. And this especially applied to the all-in-one countertop and sink.

Cultured marble bowls and countertops became popular around 1970, and have been installed in millions of homes, hotels, and apartments since then. Cultured marble, a mixture of resin and ground marble, is a less expensive alternative to natural marble.

However, cultured marble is not an upper class version of marble. It is actually a polymer casting, coated with a gel gloss, which is an integral part of the product as a whole. This gel coat is similar to the clear coat on a car in that it provides the first line of defense against scratches, burns, stains, and chemical damage.

The cycles of hot and cold water can cause crazing (tiny hairline cracks), especially around the drain. These cracks usually get larger over time and move up the basin. Other variable factors include building movement, temperature, humidity stress, water damage, and improper installation.

We had refinished many of these bowls over the years, but found that refinishing was not the answer, as the cracking continued and came through the coating. Many companies refused to refinish these bowls, or would not warranty the refinishing.

The only other solutions to repair of these cultured marble units are to cut out the bowl, or to replace the entire countertop. These are both costly solutions.

After researching, we realized that a liner, or insert for these bowls did not exist in the market. Our vision prompted us to create a much-needed product that did not exist. Our solution, the KwikBowl, was started under our carport. And, yes, there were times we wanted to give up, but we held onto our dream. Now, after three years and much trial and error, we present the KwikBowl to the market. It has been a trying, but fun and exciting journey.
